I was walking on the beach near sheep creek and happened to spot a beaver trying to swim up the creek. It was low tide so there was not much water in the creek. I am not sure what it was doing in such a shallow creek that is so close to the ocean. I was quite surprised. We also spotted a sea otter near point retreat while we were out on our boat. We have never seen sea otters so close to Juneau. Harbor seals have been hauling out on the docks in Auke Bay. I look forward to this every winter, although I end up with too many photos of seals. One seal in particular was very accommodating. |
