You cannot help but smile while watching sea lions at a haul out. They are loud, appear to be constantly fighting with each other, and they smell awful. All of these things are precisely what makes watching them so entertaining. We did not see any large males, only moms and pups. I spent more time watching the owl. There were three ravens harassing him, along with several magpies . The owl eventually flew away and hunkered down in a spruce tree for several minutes. He eventually reappeared, and I last saw him perched on the top of a spruce tree. Many of these photos fall under my "these could be good, but are not (for a variety of reasons)" category. I usually delete these types of photos unless there is something interesting or unique about them. I watched the hawk owl hunt three rodents and get harassed by a raven. It was very interesting. I went looking for a northern hawk owl that had recently been spotted in the wetlands. I was pleasantly surprised when I found him. It is such a treat to see an owl. As usual, I took far too many photos. |
