My first time seeing porpoise in Juneau.

A humpback was briefly observed from the west side of Douglas Island. The whale was closer to Admiralty Island than to Douglas. Blurry photos due to distance. A humpback was observed in Auke Bay. The pictures are blurry due to snow. From the west side of Douglas Island, a pod of orcas were observed. The sighting was very brief and they were at least one mile away from me. Photographs are blurry due to distance. A humpback was observed in Auke Bay. The whale surfaced and dove in front of me. I was able to get a photo of its fluke; however, when the whale dove its fluke did not come very far out of the water. Therefore, I am unable to determine if it is the same whale I identified on February 18, 2017 (#1443, aka Dot Spot.) I think it might be? |
